Setting up Wireless card

This procedure of Setting up Wireless card is built in Windows XP. You can use it, no matter which kind of WLAN card you have. You usually get software from the Wireless card vendor, but there is no big difference among. Parameters on the WLAN card have to match with parameters on your Access Point – Wireless Router.

1) Go to the Network connections in Control Panel or on the Desktop. Right click on the Wireless Networks and choose Properties.

2) Click Add tab or choose Properties on existing SSID.

3) On the Association tab type specific SSID. I do not have to mention that this SSID must match one on Access Point.
In first drop down menu choose a Network Authentication. It can be Open or Shared.
When you choose Data Encryption – WEP, you need to enter WEP key in the Network key field.

4) In the Authentication tab you could enable 802.1x authentication.
