Wi-Fi hacker

Last Year I got a Broadband connection with a wireless router. I was having Unlmited broadbad plan with 2 Mbps speed. I was satisfied by the speed at first. But After 3 Week's i started experiencing very slow spped, i thout it was the mistake of my ISP and called them. They Suggested me to ensure theat the wireless sihnal should be atleast 65% and to keep security for not allowing intruders to get in my network.I did those things. And Again Enjoyed Very fast downloading and browsing for 2 months. I noticed that when i even stop using my network the WLAN and Internet lights blink on my router. i thought it was some technical probs. the day after this inciedent i kept a movie for download and went off the sleep, the next morning i found the computer shut off, i thought it was some featre in the bitorrent to shout down after completing the download. when i pluged on the PC i saw my important projects and my docs were missing i initiated recovery but could not find them. i was really confuced what to do. I should submit my Project tomorrow and was thinking of it. i suddenly saw the wireless light blinking and got to no someone has hacked my network and using my connection they hacked into my PC. I than read some articles and used some software's and got to know who was in my network. I got his IP and searched the location through some IP website. I got to know that the loction was my apartment. i than remembered that there was a person in my apartment who was known for his knowledge in computer's. I than rang the reception and asked his phone number. I thought to complain the cops but didnt want to make a bad relationship with him. I went to his house and had a very serious talk, i asked him where are my docs and projects and told never to hack anyone's network. He gave me my docs my projects and some personal data. I than Put off my wireless network and connected it throught ethernet. I though use Wi- Fi network sometimes for my PSP.
